"NASHVILLE, Tenn. (May 15, 2013) - After the all-electric Nissan LEAF's best sales month ever in March and a 423.5 percent year-over-year sales increase in April, Nissan LEAF continues to make history by crossing the 25,000 sales threshold, reinforcing LEAF's position as the world's best-selling electric vehicle."

I'm probably the only one on oppo who is happy for the LEAF. :-/

I'm neutral about it. At least it isn't a Prius, the bane of our existence.

Truth. I truly hate the Prius. Sitting in one is a terrible experience. I try to forget that one ride in one...

There's 3 or 4 Leafs around where I live. They're perfect cars for the daily grind to and from work, to the store, and running errands. I'd drive one.

Congrats Leaf, here's to 50,000!

I know someone who has one for just that purpose. Range is terrible if it's too hot, or if it's too cold.

There are two regular Leaf's where I live. One blue and one red. The blue owner isn't friendly, but the red one always gives acknowledgement that we are driving a Leaf, and gives a friendly wave.

No you're not. This is awesome.

Hopefully they won't CRUSH them and sell the patents to Chevron.

FUCK YOU, GM. They could've reached this milestone 10 years ago. but chose not to.

I see the odd Leaf here or there. I wouldn't drive on though, I would worry about the extreme cold temperatures we suffer from and the effect on the batteries. This past winter we had 29 days below -4 F. We also had one day where the high temperature was -14F.

I got curious about Tesla sales compared to this, Tesla sold ~17,650 cars in 2013. Also... I just noticed the article you found is over a year old...

Around here the weather is mild enough that the range is decent, except when you're going freeway speeds which sucks down the battery pretty quickly. You could probably get 90 miles just in town, but with freeway driving you're typically down to 65-70 miles on a charge.

Still, it's been a good little car in most respects.

You'd still get about 45-60 KM of usable range in weather like that, depending on the temperature of the battery.
